Code of Conduct

The objective of code of conduct is to ensure that the institution is a safe place where all members are able to flourish in a healthy environment that is conducive to learning. Code of conduct further ensures that students learn good habits, self-discipline, and consideration for others that ultimately lead to a better future. The College has various rules and regulations that teachers, librarian, non teaching and students are required to strictly adhere to the code of conduct.

It is the collective responsibility of the entire teaching faculty, librarian, non teaching staff and students to work together in order to achieve the institutional core values and targets set by our founding father Principal Khudiram Bose.

Code of Conduct for the Students:

  • The students must abide by the rules of the College in maintaining discipline.
  • All students must wear College Identity Card to prove that s/he is current student of College.
  • No student shall get involved in any form of ragging within or outside the College campus.
  • The students must be regular in attending classes and must ensure that s/he fulfils University of Calcutta attendance requirement.
  • The students must pay College tuition fees as and when noticed by College.
  • The students must pay CU Exam fees while filling up CU Exam Form.
  • All letters are to be addressed to the Head of the Institution.
  • If any student is ill the College is to be notified in writing within three working days with proper medical document.
  • The students must treat all other students, teachers, librarian and non teaching staff with respect, dignity, courtesy and sensitivity.
  • All students shall maintain discipline in the class.
  • The students shall act ethically and honestly in the preparation, conduct, submission and publication of academic work, and during all forms of assessment.
  • Student shall not discriminate any other fellow student based on the caste, creed, language, and place of origin, social and cultural background.
  • Students shall not damage or destroy any College property.
  • Smoking and consumption of any kind of offensive item(s) is strictly prohibited within College campus.
  • Use of any form of social media is to be done responsibly.
If any student is found to commit any breach of code of conduct, then College will take disciplinary action against the student after careful inquiry.

Code of Conduct for the Teachers and Librarian:

  • Teachers include all categories – substantive post, SACT and Visiting Lecturers.
  • Teachers and Librarian shall perform their duties efficiently as per the institutional norms.
  • Teachers and Librarian shall abide by rules and regulations of the College and take care not to violate the norms of decency or morality in their behavior, both in campus and outside campus.
  • Teachers and Librarian shall not discriminate any student based on the caste, creed, language, and place of origin, social and cultural background.
  • Teachers shall always focus on holistic development of students.
  • Teachers are also to act as mentors of their students and always help them.
  • Teachers and Librarian are expected to update their skills and knowledge professionally from time to time.
  • Teachers and Librarian shall maintain decorum while dealing with the students and fellow colleagues.
  • Teachers should try for excellence in academics and research try to instill in students the value and quality of ethical research.
  • The Librarian shall guide students in using library as a positive resource and help them in obtaining e-resource.
  • Teachers shall encourage the students to participate in curricular and co curricular activities organized by College and also by other Colleges.
  • Teachers and Librarian shall not be absent from the duties assigned at any time without prior permission.
  • Teachers are expected to be impartial in the assessment/evaluation of students’ performance.
  • Teachers and Librarian shall not accept any assignments given by an external agency without the permission of the management.

Code of Conduct for the Non Teaching Staff (NTS):

  • The NTS shall perform their duties efficiently, as per the College norms.
  • The NTS shall abide by rules and regulations of the College and take care not to violate the norms of decency or morality in their behavior, both in campus and outside campus.
  • The NTS shall not discriminate any student based on the caste, creed, language, and place of origin, social and cultural background.
  • The NTS shall maintain cordial relationship with the teaching faculty, librarian, students and other administrative staff for the smooth running of the College.
  • The NTS shall extend cooperation to the department for the development of the departments.
  • The NTS shall extend their full fledged support to their colleagues and other faculty of the College in all the activities related to the academic and administrative matters.
  • The NTS shall try to improve their area of skill from time to time and in keeping with the needs of the hour.
  • The NTS should not be absent from the duties without the prior permission of the College authority.
  • The NTS shall not involve either directly or indirectly in any activity during College hours that is not related to the work of the College.
It is expected that teachers, librarian and non teaching staff of the College shall abide by rules and regulations to maintain discipline.
